The Shotokan owns its inspiration: the Higonokami, the pared-back Japanese folding knife made since the late 19th century. Le Résiliant borrows its spirit, its taut line and its sobriety, and grafts on its own signature: the reverse opening, hand-tuned in Thiers.
It is the most versatile of the Résiliants, and the most varied: a 90MCV8 carbon blade for patina purists, semi-stainless Z160 for everyday peace of mind, or artisan carbon damascus, its patterns revealed in acid, for collectors. Three characters for one silhouette; the choice is made at the quote stage, according to the use you have in mind.

- What is a Higonokami?
- A Japanese folding knife with a pared-back silhouette, born in the late 19th century. The Shotokan draws on that sober, taut line and adds Le Résiliant's signature: the hand-tuned reverse opening.
- Which blade should I choose: carbon, Z160 or damascus?
- 90MCV8 carbon for the edge and the patina, if upkeep does not scare you; semi-stainless Z160 for everyday peace of mind; artisan carbon damascus for a collector's piece. The choice is made at the quote stage, based on use.
- Does the Shotokan's damascus need special care?
- Yes, the same as a carbon blade: wiped and kept dry, with a light film of oil before it is put away. Its acid-etched patterns stand out all the more when the blade is well cared for.
- Can I have my knife re-sharpened by the workshop?
- Yes. Any knife that has left the workshop can be sent back for its edge to be re-established, free of charge: only shipping remains down to its owner. Please get in touch before sending anything.
