The Tanto is the founding model, the one through which the reverse opening was born. Designed and assembled in the workshop on rue Alexandre Dumas, in Thiers, it was conceived from the start as a working tool: a straightforward blade, a hand-tuned mechanism, a secure grip. It is the knife tradespeople wear on their belt from morning to night, on building sites and at the workbench, and the one that earned Le Résiliant its first orders from Belgium, Switzerland and the United States.
Its blade is cut from D2, a tool steel rich in carbon and chromium, chosen for how well it holds an edge under demanding use. As on every Résiliant, the reverse opening is adjusted in the vice, piece by piece, until the action is perfect. Care remains simple: wipe the blade after use, a drop of oil on the pivot from time to time, and a pass on a butcher's steel, medium-cut, to straighten the edge. The stone only comes out once the edge has truly suffered.

- Yes, that is what it was made for. Its D2 blade, a tool steel renowned for edge retention, and its belt-friendly format make it an everyday companion, on building sites and in the workshop alike.
- Can the Tanto be personalised?
- Yes. Every Tanto is made to order in Thiers: the blade steel, the handle, the finish and the French leather sheath (stitched to measure, plain or with a coloured inlay matched to the handle) are chosen directly with the cutler at the quote stage.
- How do I care for the D2 blade?
- Wipe it after use, put a drop of oil on the pivot now and then, and give it a regular pass on a butcher's steel, medium-cut: the stone only comes out once the edge has truly suffered. D2 is a semi-stainless steel: it handles daily life well, as long as it is never put away wet.
- Can I have my knife re-sharpened by the workshop?
- Yes. Any knife that has left the workshop can be sent back for its edge to be re-established, free of charge: only shipping remains down to its owner. Please get in touch before sending anything.
