The craft

The Mini Tanto puts the reverse opening within everyone's reach, in price as in size. A small utility knife to take everywhere, it echoes the line of the original Tanto in a reduced format, assembled with the same care in the Thiers workshop, down to its anodised titanium pivot screw.

Its N690 blade is cryogenically treated in industry: a pass at very low temperature that refines the steel's structure and gives it outstanding resistance to wear and oxidation. Paired with a carbon-fibre handle, it makes the Mini Tanto the most carefree of the Résiliants: a knife that forgives a forgotten wipe-down, ideal as a first artisan piece. A damascus version is also available at the quote stage, in this same accessible format, for a blade with one-of-a-kind patterns.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Mini Tanto a good first artisan knife?
Yes: it is the most accessible Résiliant, in price and in size, while being hand-assembled in Thiers like the larger models. Its cryogenically treated N690 makes it very forgiving in everyday use.
How does it differ from the Résiliant Tanto?
The format first: the Mini Tanto is a small pocket utility knife, where the Tanto is worn on the belt. The steel next: stainless N690 and carbon fibre here, D2 and a more imposing build for the elder.
How do I care for the N690 blade?
Hardly at all: this stainless steel resists oxidation remarkably well thanks to its cryogenic treatment. A wipe after use and an occasional pass on a butcher's steel, medium-cut, are enough to keep it cutting for years; the stone only comes out once the edge has truly suffered. On the damascus version, available at the quote stage, care follows that of carbon steel: the blade wiped and kept dry, with a light film of oil before it is put away.
Can I have my knife re-sharpened by the workshop?
Yes. Any knife that has left the workshop can be sent back for its edge to be re-established, free of charge: only shipping remains down to its owner. Please get in touch before sending anything.
